[Rings] About the size of Hermes rings

Hermes Ring

When it comes to Hermes accessories, bracelets such as the Chaine d'Ancre are especially popular, but in recent years, rings have also been gaining attention. There are also valuable vintage models that are no longer in production, as well as rare models that are currently in production but are hard to find in boutiques.

In this article, we will explain in detail about the size of Hermes rings, a topic that customers often ask about.

Hermes ring sizes

Hermes rings are sized according to the European ISO standard, which has slightly different rules than the Japanese JCS standard.

For details, please refer to the quick reference chart below, but roughly speaking, the number obtained by subtracting 40 from the European size notation will roughly correspond to the Japanese size.

For example, the Hermes size "#52" corresponds to "approximately size 11.5" according to the JCS standard.

On our product pages, when size labels are available for the item, we list the official size numbers from the manufacturer (※) and also provide images of measurements taken using a ring gauge stick.
(*For some vintage models and other items that do not have size information, we have listed the actual size measured by our company.)

Models whose listed size and actual fit may differ

Hermes rings come in a variety of motifs, and for certain models, the listed size may differ from the actual fit.

Example 1. Chaine d'Ancre Enchaine Ring

Chaine d'Ancre Anchaine Ring

The Chaine d'Ancre Enchaine ring comes in two models, the narrow "PM" and the wide "GM", so even if they are the same size, the fit will be different.

When a staff member with a ring finger size of about 16 tried it on,
For "PM", "#57" was the perfect fit, but for "GM", "#58" was the perfect fit.

The Chaine d'Ancre Enchaine Ring GM is an open ring design, so there may be slight individual differences, but we recommend that you choose the size of your finger plus one size larger.

Example 2. Collier de Chien ring

Collier de Sian Ring

The Collier de Chien ring also comes in two models, and just like the Enchaine ring, the feel of the "PM" and "GM" rings is different even if they are the same size.

When a staff member with a pinky finger size of about 11 tried it on,
For the PM, size #52 was the perfect fit, but for the GM, size #53 was a little tight to almost the perfect fit.
I have the impression that if I go up two sizes, "#54," I'll be able to wear it with plenty of room.

Unlike the Enchaine Ring GM mentioned above, this ring has a closed ring and a wide design, so it fits snugly, so we recommend that you choose your finger size plus 1 to 2 sizes larger.

Example 3. Osmoz Ring

Osmo's Ring

Although the Osmoz appears to be a relatively wide motif, it tapers thinly towards the palm and has an open ring design, making it a somewhat versatile model.

When a staff member with a middle finger size of about 18 tried it on, he found that it also fit size #57.
Osmoz rings are rarely available in larger sizes, so if you see one that is close to the size of the finger you want to wear, we recommend that you try it on.

Models where the gauge stick measurements differ from the actual fit

Among vintage Hermes rings, which have a more handmade feel than current models, there are some models whose inner circumference is not a perfect circle, so the measurements taken with a gauge stick may differ from the actual fit.

A typical example is the "Diane Ring," which we often carry in our store.
Other famous motifs such as the "Bouclesellier Ring," "Duzaneau Ring," and "Mexican Corset Ring" also have slightly oval inner circumference shapes.

The fit is generally the same as the size indicated, but because of the oval shape, it may feel a bit tight when putting it on or taking it off.
If the motif is narrow, choose the size that fits your finger perfectly or one size larger.
For wide motifs, we recommend ordering 1 to 2 sizes larger than your finger size.
